The largest of the Madison chain of lakes, Lake Mendota is host to many lake activities like boating, swimming, fishing and of course the Union Terrace of the University of Wisconsin.

The Village of Maple Bluff North East side of Madison with magnificent homes high on the bluffs (homes in the 'lower bluff' have flat frontage) with some over looking the capital and University of Wisconsin. The Village includes free tennis courts, public beach with club house, its own municipal building with fire and police departments. Maple Bluff Country Club is located within the Village and Maple Bluff is also home to our Governor.
Shorewood Hills North West of Madison with impressive homes high on bluffs (no flat frontage). The Village of Shorewood Hills has an elementary school, police and fire departments and is home to Black Hawk Country Club. Views are of the North side of Lake Mendota. Shorewood also have beautiful parks and next to UW playing fields open to the public.
Town of Middleton/Spring Harbor Lake Homes are situated on the North side of the lake with large sprawling lawns and unique architecture. Bishops Bay Golf Club located in this area.

The Lake that creates the isthmus to the South of the capital city is great for boating, fishing and swimming.
